Hailsham Swimming Club is a friendly, family orientated club serving Hailsham and its surrounding area. Formed in 1989, and is still going strong to this day, providing a safe environment in which the teachers can develop the swimmers up to a competitive standard.
The club aims to become a top competitive squad within the County, providing opportunities for all our swimmers to excel at County, Regional and National level. We continually develop teaching and coaching skills, providing swimmers of all abilities the opportunity to compete or undertake swimming as a sociable leisure activity The top competitive section of the swimming club is known as Hailsham Performance Swimming Squad and the teaching squads are known as Hailsham Hornets.
Hailsham’s swim stars shone brightly at the 2015 Sussex Winter County Championships. The team excelled coming away with 44 championship event medals, including 20 gold, as well as 41 top 6 placings. Tom Barden and Milly Widdop put in amazing performances to claim the 12 years age group championship titles, after accumulating the most points across the two days of racing. The pair picked up a total of 12 golds between them. Marcus Tyson made his mark in the Men’s Open events, gaining 6 golds, 2 national qualification times, as well as claiming the 100m Individual Medley County Championship title, in a new Sussex County record.
