About UsHailsham Swimming Club is a small family orientated club serving Hailsham and its surrounding area. We are a friendly, inclusive club that loves to see people from all backgrounds. We welcome every person that wants to join with open arms. The club was formed in 1989 and is still going strong to this day. The aim of our club is to provide a safe environment in which the teachers can develop the swimmers up to a competitive standard. Since 1990, the club has competed in local competitive galas and many of the clubs swimmers have been entering and swimming in open meets all over the country. It is not compulsory to enter open meets and competition, although that is the standard that our swimmers train for. In addition to the regular swimming and development training, the club likes to take a break from it all and have an active social calendar. We hold and annual barn dance and this is combined with the clubs awards presentation allowing the kids to get some of the lime light and receive their awards for all their hard work put in that year. Hailsham S.C has many teachers making up a range of different teaching and coaching styles. The head coach is Mr. David Holt, he coaches the Upper squad. As a club we like to encourage parent and guardian participation. We particularly love to see them helping out on poolside or even becoming a teacher themselves. Many of our teachers are parents or guardians of swimmers. We have also supported many of them to become ASA officials and helpers at galas. In 2001 the club decided to extend the range of activity undertaken by supporting the ever growing game of water polo. Our club has seen many swimmers grow into national level and get into GB squads and attend training sessions. Also we have high hopes of some competing in the 2012 Olympic Games. We have a committee made up of parents of swimmers or previous swimmers, these people manage the club. They are responsible of the organisations of club events, galas, and activities. This is all done along side the clubs teachers. The teachers themselves also hold meetings to talk about which swimmers are suitable to move up to the next group. | ||
